I just remembered that when I was  working in New Jersey I attended a lot of trade shows as an exhibitor.  I was the person in charge of the company’s trade show exhibits.

Now that I think about it, setting up and tearing down the trade show exhibit was kind of fun as this was the time all of the exhibitors got to know each other. We saw each other at our worst (because setting up the exhibits was hard and often frustrating work).  Back in those days, the exhibits were very heavy and came packed in several boxes.  No matter how many times you had put the booth together, you still needed the instructions.  Nowadays, all that has changed.  Trade show exhibits are now so much easier to set up, tear down, pack & ship.  In addition to all this, the exhibits I used to put together were heavy…..very heavy….shipping charges were very high.

I don’t know why all this came to me today, but it did.  I guess it was because I was at a hotel this morning and saw exhibitors setting up their booths and it reminded me of how I used to do the same thing.

My son came to me yesterday very excited because they learned how to build a two way radio in his science class. I have not seen him this excited about school in a very very long time. He could not stop talking about this project and went online to look up mobile radio systems on all the search engines and video sites.

Our entire dinner conversation revolved around this subject and the conversation went on well into his bedtime.  I guess science is the subject that got him excited and thinking about all the other “cool” things that he could build.  The only way I was able to convince him to go to sleep was to promise him that we would build a two way radio together this weekend.  So tomorrow after work I need to go to an electronics store so I can get the parts needed to build out our father and son project.  The best part of it is that he wants to do this because he likes it and not because it is a class assignment.

I cant believe the amount of information he was able to download on data radio communication systems.  The materials he found on the net were very interesting and thurough and he organized them in a very methodical manner so that it would be easy for us to review and follow when we start building our own.  This has got to be one of those proud father moments for me. My little boy is growing up and I love watching it and more importantly being a part of it.

About 15 years ago, I got into collecting luxury watches.  There is one timepiece that I want to get very badly!!!  Its the Breitling Bentley:

I just love this watch. Its big, has classic lines and is very accurate.  It looks like the Navitimer on steroids.  Although this is my favorite watch at this time, I am also looking to get a Tag Heuer, a Cartier and a Movado to add to my collection by the end of this year.

The Tag Huer, is a watch that I think will become a great collectible item in the next few years.  It has a distinct look and is very well made and priced affordably.  I have yet to meet someone who has one and is unhappy with it.

I want a Cartier watch simply because I do not have one in my collection yet.  No watch collection would be complete without a Cartier.  There are so many classic styles to choose from like the Tank, Pasha, Santos and Roadster, just to name a few.  One of these will land in my collection soon!!!

Like the Cartier, the Movado is also a watch that mustbe included in any formidable collection.  I have a couple already, but now is the time to add even more to the collection.  The prices for these luxury watches are low enough that investing in them now is a definate no loose situation.  I really dont think their value will decrease.

After smoking for many years, its time to get my teeth white again.  I’ve looked at a lot of options and veneers seem to be the best way to get white teeth again.

I think cosmetic dentistry will be the fastest and easiest way to get back the pearly whites and a great smile.  I see a lot of celebrities have gone this route and it makes them all look much younger and gives confidence.  The best part about it is that getting dental veneers is a very quick procedure with immediate results.  I have a friend of mine who did this and he is very happy with it.  The difference in his demeanor changed for the better as soon as he got off the dentist’s chair.  Getting the veneers has also made him look younger.  In fact, it seems to have taken at least ten years of him.

Nowadays, with workloads and personal lifestyle being so hard on each one of us let alone taking care of ailing parents.  Which takes me to the story of my cousins family.  With four kids of their own, it was so hard for them to take care of both parents.  With one paralyzed from a stroke and the other so sick to be able to take care of her husband, it was affecting them personally and physically.

To make all of their lives easier, my cousin thought the best thing would be retirement living.  Therefore, he started looking for a retirement home who will be able to accept both of them and also a retirement community that’s not too far from where they lived so they would be able to visit them as often as they can and that would not be a long drive with four kids.

Some of the places they were looking and were considering, were retirement homes in the province of Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec, since they were looking to also relocate to the same area.

After a long search that included visiting the communities and meeting with residence in each place, they decided on what they considered the best place for the parents.  They found it thru www.senioropolis.com.   As they live in Montreal, Quebec, they settled on a retirement residence that met what they were looking for right their in their area.  The retirement community had the nurses and doctors needed to take full time care of their father as well as being able to help with the medication schedule of their mother.   Best of all, they did not need to relocate themselves either.

At the end, everyone was happier and the lives of everyone involved went back to as normal as it can get.  They were able to go to sleep every night knowing the parents were well taken care of day in and day out and a visit to them could be any time they wanted or needed to.

I just love stainless steel appliances.  So when I started renovating my house interior, all I looked for were stainless steel items for every corner I can put one.  Imagine my window panes are in stainless steel, my entry door is made with wood and stainless steel accents.  The focal point in my house is the fireplace I have in the living room.  First it was taking too much space and it was too old fashioned.  I started researching for a more streamlined design that incorporated, what else, stainless steel.  I finally came across one that I fell in love with and that is the Blomus stainless steel free standing fireplace.  This was a huge space saver for me who had the old fashioned fireplace.  I would be able to hang it on a wall and use the place around it to put the new Blomus stainless steel fireplace accessories I found to match.

I did not have in mind to replace anything outside but I had to get one particular stainless steel mailbox I found I just had to have.  I also was able to fill up the bar area with all sorts of stainless steel items, such as stainless steel wine racks, stainless steel bottle holder and a stainless steel shaker set.

All in all, at the end, I was extremely satisfied with the way my interior turned out.  It was so convenient to shop online.  Who has the time to go shopping from store to store to find what you need when at the end you’re so tired you just give up and go back home empty handed.

My mom just got back from her Alaska Travel and she can not stop talking about it.  This was the best trip she has ever taken.  According to her, everyone must Travel Alaska at least once in their lifetime.

She said that the beauty of the Alaskan landscape is something that is very aw inspiring and something to behold.  Pictures do not do it justice.  The beauty of Alaska is is un ending and very picturesque.

My mom stayed at Denali Park and was in awe of the surroundings.  The cleanliness of the parks, the freshness of the air, the smell of nature and vivarant colors of the wild is something that she had never seen.  She is so in love with Alaska, that she has already planned her next trip there and has included us in her plans to revisit this great state.  As a vacation spot, Alaska offers everything anyone can want.  Nature, relaxation, art, great dinning and even big city life.  There will be something to do every minute of the day and in the same token, if rest and relaxation is what you are after, the same can also be found and had.

I find myself spending most of my time and money in my local area.  So the thing I use most is local search.  This allows me to find the business establishments that are in my neighborhood and very convenient for me to get to on a daily basis.  I do not need to go out of my way to get to these establishments.  The convenience factor of local merchants are one the main reasons a local yellowpages is so important for everyone.

I have found local.com to be the best local search engine because it aggregates local listings from a number of very well known sites.  THis brings you the user, the listings from several sources and enables you to select the best listing for your needs and more importantly one that is probabbly very near to where you reside.

One of the best features is that users are able to contribute reviews of the establishmentsand give their opinions about the places that are around you which you will probabbly visit.  Often times, a local spot may be right under your nose, and for whatever reason, you have not visited it.  This will bring out those local gems that are present in every town and neighborhood and enable to you to discover new and amazing places in your proximity.

Information such as thiss is great for you to plan out evenings and events while staying local.  You can even use this information when you are going to a new area where you may not be familiar with the neighborhood.

I am sick of cable television…..I am switching to Direct TV

I have had enough of my cable company and their lack of service.  I want to get the channels I want and not have to be forced to get a package that does not interest me for the sake of adding one more channel.  This is why I have chosen to subscribe to a Direct T V package where I will be in total control of what I want to watch and I will not be restricted to regional choices only.  DirecTV will allow me to receive the programming I want to receive without having to deal with all the excess headaches of the “package deals offered by other tv service providers.  Why do I need to get channels that I am not interested in for the sake of one that I really want? seems like a waste to me, but that is what the conventional tv systems provide.  I only want what I want…nothing more and notheing less…And more importantly I am willing to pay for what I want, so the best and only option left for me is the DirectTV option.

So tomorrow, I am going to call and cancel my cable TV providors services and go with the only thing that makes sense…and that is Direct TV.

I used to think having Home Security Systems was bordering on paranoia.  However, since I now have my own family and travel a lot on business, I am a believer in Home Security.
